Our Third Gotcha Day!!

It is hard to believe that we are now celebrating our third Gotcha Day with our kids!  Gotcha Day is the anniversary celebration of when we were first united with our kids.  Our Gotcha Day is April 12th.  We always try and eat foods the kids grew up on this day.  We started out with Caldo soup for breakfast.  It is a soup made up of milk, eggs, potatoes, and cilantro.  It is funny to see how much their tastes have changed!  They didn't like it nearly as much this year as last year.  After soccer games and basketball games, we came home and fixed arepas and arroz con leche for lunch, which is everyone's favorite.  Although they are easy to make, we don't make a lot of arepas.  This makes them more special when we do have them.  A good friend of ours surprised the kids with some fruit that they ate growing up.  They were very hard to find and made us all feel so special.  The kids remembered eating it and said it tasted like the fruit they had in Colombia.  To finish our special day, we were invited to a fiend's house for a traditional Ecuadorian dinner.  This was so nice that we could celebrate our special day with such a special dinner.

The gifts we give the kids are always sentimental for Gotcha Day.  This year, they received a photo album / journal of all the special times we have had together since we met each other.  We hope they will really treasure this, and we plan to continue to add to it as time goes on.  We also framed our first picture together on Presentation Day.  It is one of our favorite pictures!

Grandma and Grandpa surprised the kids with a new basketball goal, which they love.  They are always so thoughtful and generous to the kids!!
