Time To Decorate For Christmas!

Thanksgiving is one of our favorite times of the year.   It is a time we can give thanks to God for all He has blessed us with.  The kids and Dainis always have a few days off from work and school to celebrate, and we all enjoy this extra family time.  This is our third Christmas together so the kids now know what we usually do and the traditions in our family.  The kids did not come with any big traditions from their Colombian holidays so we continued making our own.  So, we always decorate for Christmas during the Thanksgiving break.  Although we miss the cooler weather we had in November and the first snow fall of the year when we lived in Minnesota, this weather is much better year around.  Everyone pitched in and helped decorate the inside and the outside together.  It is the first time Mom and Dad weren't here to decorate together and were in their new home.  It felt very different to be doing these things as just our family.  Because we were finally settled, we put up three trees throughout the house, and the kids each got a small one for their room.  One of the trees was in the foyer right by our living room and the entry to our house.  The other tree was in the family room and is now officially the kids' special ornament tree for the special ornaments from each year they have been here.  Because we spend so much time in our room while the kids are at school and after they go to bed at night, we decorated a small tree with snowmen in our room.  The kids helped with this one too.  The tree in Juan's room was a cowboy theme and the girls' were both dancing ballerinas.
