The kids are now into their third week of school, and it is hard to believe how fast the time has flown by. Although getting up at 5:00 AM everyday has been an adjustment for all, the kids are doing a good job transitioning. The best part is enjoying a three day weekend every week. The kids all love their teachers, and we are extremely happy with the communication we have with each of them. It is the school's policy for teacher's to respond to parent e-mails within 24 hours. However, their responses have been a lot quicker than that.
Juan has his homeroom teacher who he works with for Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. He also has a Math teacher, Spanish teacher, PE instructor, and Band Director. He is learning to play the recorder! Here is a picture of Juan with his homeroom teacher.
Ingrid also has a homeroom teacher who she works with for Language Arts,
Science, and Social Studies. She also has a Math teacher, Spanish teacher, PE
instructor, and Band Director. She is learning to play the clarinet!

Angie is on a different campus that is located about ten minutes from Ingrid and Juan's campus. She has had the most change by switching classes with each subject. She has a different teacher for Language Arts, Science, Humanities, Math, Spanish, P.E., and Band. She is learning to play the flute and is very excited! We have had the opportunity to correspond with each of her teachers via e-mail and are confident we will have a good year. Her Language Arts teacher was even adopted! The school is called Odyssey Preparatory Academy but is now starting a new Middle Years program. This junior high program will be from 6th -8th grade. The school is what is called an IB school. This means that it has been awarded a special title illustrating their rigouras academic structure and the expectation that every student (they call them scholars) will be ready for college when they graduate. The IB program is usually for high school. However, the teachers at Odyssey have worked diligently to get their junior high to have the same title. They have just been awarded that, and there are only seven schools in AZ honored to be part of this program. Because Angie has so many teachers, we were unable to get a picture of her with her homerrom teacher. Here is a picture of the sign at the entrance of her school.
One of our favorite Bible verses is Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. We are very thankful and feel blessed to have been given the opportunity for our kids to attend such a great school!
