A Special Father - Daughter Dinner

Our church hosts a father - daughter dinner each year.  Dainis took the girls, and they had a really nice time.  They had dinner and games and brought home several special presents.  A friend of ours said that they buy corsages for their girls, and their Dad comes to the door to pick them up.  That sounds like a great way to make them feel special and teach them what a date with a nice boy would look like.  Luckily, we are not near that quite yet!  With each new experience, we are learning not to have the same expectations as we would think we should have.  All of these activities are so new and different than anything the kids have ever done.  We think they will continue to get more excited about things when they aren't so new, and they know what to expect.  They did love getting dressed up and having a special night out with just Dad.  We understand the importance of this one on one attention that siblings need.  We were only children so we never had to share our parents with anyone.  So, we just started something new.  Every Friday morning before school, Dainis takes one child to breakfast.  Every Saturday, Lori is taking another child to lunch.  We hope this individual attention will make them feel special and have less of a need to fight with each other for our attention, especially Dainis's attention since he is not home as much.
